Peel Street, Montreal

Peel Street, Montreal

Peel Street (officially rue Peel) is a major street located in downtown Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The street was named after Sir Robert Peel an English politician. The street runs through Montreal's shopping district, most notably Les Cours Mont-Royal, ending at the foot of Mount Royal in the Golden Square Mile district.

McGill University buildings line much of its uppermost section. Further south, Peel is home to the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association, Canada's oldest athletics association, and the Consulate General of Pakistan. The street borders the western side of Place du Canada and the adjacent Dorchester Square, the Chateau Champlain, Windsor Station and the Dow Planetarium. The street's southern end is in the Peel Basin on the Lachine Canal
