- Belgh'Brasse
Belgh'Brasse is a Quebec micro-brewery located in Amos, in the Abitibi region of Northwestern Quebec. The business was founded in 1999, but had to shut down due to business problems in 2001. Jean-Louis Marcoux, the founder and master brewer of Belgian origin, brought together some private investors to get the brewery restarted again, and they recorded their first sale in December 2004.
They were given a government grant of $250 000 in 2003 to help relaunch the company.1
Their first product was called "8", a Belgian style bottle fermenting beer.
They currently brew a golden ale called Taiga2, a French word for muskeg or swamp/tundra. The brand was launched at Christmas 2004. The water for this beer is taken from a local esker; the quality of this water is credited with the beer's success.
