Ammasandra (sometimes referred to as Adityapatna) is a small township in Tumkur district in the state of Karnataka, India. Mysore Cements Ltd., a Heidelberg Cement group company, is the economic mainstay of the region.

Mysore Cements Ltd., was until July 2006 a Birla group company run under the auspices of the S.K. Birla banner. Heidelberg Cement acquired a controlling stake in Mysore Cements Ltd., in August 2006.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, [GR|India] Ammasandra had a population of 4236. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Adityapatna has an average literacy rate of 82%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: with 54% of the males and 46% of females literate. In Ammasandra, 7% of the population is under 6 years of age. Ammasandra is blessed with good climatic and economic conditions to support both heavy industry (Mysore Cements Ltd.,) as well as agriculture.

Mycemco Composite Pre-University College in Ammasandra has a good reputation - deservedly earned over the last four decades going by the number of students who have graduated and gone on to lead fulfilling professional careers and is one of the leading academic institutions around the district.

Ammasandra is blessed with good infrastructure facilities even though it is a small township. It is well connected by rail networks and bus routes making it easily reachable. While Ammasandra may not make it to the Lonely Planet's list of places to see in India, it nevertheless, has a somnolescence about it that best describes a sleepy Indian township that most tourists would love to experience.
