Liverpool Art Prize

The Liverpool Art Prize is contemporary art competition open to professional artists based in the Merseyside area of the United Kingdom.

The inaugural competition took place in 2008 with entries available for viewing until 7 May, 2008.cite news|url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/liverpool/content/articles/2008/03/10/artinliverpool_prize_feature.shtml|title=Liverpool Art Prize winners named|last=Coslett|first=Paul|date=2008-03-10|publisher=BBC|accessdate=2008-08-18] The competition was inspired by the Turner Prize held in Liverpool in 2007 at the Tate Gallery. Shortlisted for 2008 were artists Imogen Stidworthy, The Singh Twins, Gareth Kemp, Mary Fitzpatrick, sculptor Emma Rodgers and installation artist Jayne Lawless.

The overall winner for 2008 was Imogen Stidworthy and the People's Choice Prize went to The Singh Twins.
