Ishita Bhaduri (born 4 May, 1961 in Kolkata, West Bengal) is an Indian poet and writer of contemporary India. She has also written at times under the pseudonym Senjuti Bhaduri.

Background

Ishita is the great-grand-daughter of the poet Jatindra Mohan Bagchi.

She started her literary career in the early 1980s when she edited "Thungri" magazine. She also edited "Chharaa-Taraa", a collective volume of rhymes which was published for continuously for three years.

She has twenty-one books published including poetry, short stories, travelogues, prose, rhyme and other edited works. Her work includes "Shabdey Raktey Aanguley", "Tomar Chibukey Ishwar", "Athaba Brahmakamal" and "Eucalyptus Gandha". She has edited "Jatindramohan Bagchi/125", a commemorative volume on Jatindra Mohan Bagchi.

"Saaheb Subor Deshe" is a travelogue based on her tour to the United Kingdom and mainland Europe. A collection of her selected poems "Prem O Biraher Kabita" was published in 2006 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. A book of rhymes, "Malaichaki" has been published in 2008 also in Dhaka. She has been invited to poetry readings, conferences and seminars in Beijing (China), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Tangail, Maimansinha as part of the Indian writer’s delegation.

Awards and honours

Ishita won the "Poet Gouranga Bhowmick Memorial Award" in 2004 and the "Bangla Academy Award" from the Government of West Bengal in 2005.
