The Sixth Central Pay commission was set up by Union Cabinet of India on October 5, 2006 for revising the salaries of central government's employees. The commission was set up under Justice B.N.Srikrishna with a time-frame of 18 months. Other members were Prof. Ravindra Dholakia, Mr. J.S.Mathur and Member-Secretary Smt. Sushama Nath. Report of Sixth Central Pay Commission was submitted to Finance Minister P. Chidambaram by Justice B. N. Srikrishna on March 24, 2008.The cabinet has approved sixth pay commission recommendations with some modifications on 14th august.Revised pay will be implemented with effect from 01.01.2006 and allowances will be paid with effect from 01.09.2008.
