Haji Idris bin Jusoh was a former
Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) of the state ofTerengganu ,Malaysia . He is a member of theUnited Malays National Organisation (UMNO) which is part of the nation ruling coalitionBarisan Nasional .Crisis in Terengganu
Following the 2008 Malaysian general election,
Barisan Nasional managed to win in the Terengganu state election garnering 24 out of 32 state seats on offer, with PAS winning the remaining 8 seats. A crisis soon ensued after theSultan of Terengganu , TuankuMizan Zainal Abidin , who is also the thenYang di-Pertuan Agong (Supreme Ruler) of Malaysia (till currently), refused to re-appoint and swear in Idris as Menteri Besar. The sultan instead appointedAhmad Said , one of the 24 BN state assemblymen. Malaysian Prime MinisterAbdullah Ahmad Badawi responded by saying that the appointment of Ahmad Said as "unconstitutional".
