Alberts Glacier

Alberts Glacier (coord|66|52|S|64|53|W|type:glacier_region:AQ|display=inline,title) is a heavily crevassed glacier about 8 miles (13 km) long, flowing east from Avery Plateau, Graham Land, and entering Mill Inlet between Balch Glacier and Southard Promontory. The glacier was photographed from the air by the U.S. Navy in 1968. It was delineated from these photographs by DOS, 1980, and positioned from surveys by Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS), 1947-57. In association with the names of Antarctic historians in the area, named by United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) after Fred G. Alberts, American toponymist; Secretary, Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN), 1949-80.
