The monument is a convert|110|ft|m|0|lk=oncite web |url=http://www.somersetgateway.com/aboutsom/somermag/may2000/leggwalk.htm |title=Butleigh, Blatonsborough and Barton St David |accessdate=2008-03-23 |format= |work=Somerset Gateway ] Tuscan column on a cuboid ashlar base set on two tall steps, the lower supporting a wrought iron railing enclosure. There was a doorway at the base but this was sealed in 1990. It was paid for by public subscription and designed by Henry Goodridge.

There is an inscription written by Robert Southey.
