Robert Drysdale (born in Provo, Utah) is a brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and aspiring professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter.

Considered by many to be one of the top grappler's in the world today, Robert Drysdale was born in the USA to a Brazilian mother and American father. He moved to Brazil with his family in 1987 at the age of six. Several years later, as a young man he returned to Las Vegas, Nevada to begin college. While in the USA, following his growing interest in martial arts, he began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with Lewis-Perderneiras in 1998. Robert demonstrated tremendous potential early on and was immediately referred to as a natural by those he trained with. Shortly thereafter he was encouraged and felt inspired to pursue Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu full time.

= Biography = Beginning in the early 1990s, thanks to the Gracie family and their unique style of fighting, jiu-jitsu began receiving notoriety worldwide and Brazil was quickly becoming the Mecca of jiu-jitsu. Robert returned to Brazil in 2000 to dedicate himself entirely to training, and competing in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Over the years he has trained continually, initially with Maromba Club and eventually team Brasa Jiu-Jitsu Club in São Paulo, Brazil. While training and competing for Brasa Club he received his Black Belt in 2004 from the famed Leo Vieira, besides training with people such as UFC fighter Demian Maia, BJJ World Champions Rodrigo Comprido, Ricardo Vieira, Andre Galvao, Lucas Leite amongst others. His technique, skills, personal commitment, and teaching abilities have taken him to countries around the world, including Germany, United Kingdom, Denmark, Poland, France, Sweden, Finland and Mexico, not to mention teaching and presenting seminars in cities across the United States.

Most recently he became the 2007 ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship – Open Division ADCC, submitting Marcelo Garcia. In early 2008 he returned to the USA where he is [http://xtremecouture.wordpress.com/2008/02/19/robert-drysdale-joins-xtreme-couture/ currently training] with renowned UFC Champion, Randy Couture and former Pride Champion Wanderlei Silva.
