Gagan Palrecha was born in the city of
Jodhpur located inRajasthan ,India and grew up inMichigan .Gagan attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. In high school, Palrecha started producing do-it-yourself records and booking concerts at VFW halls, basements of friends houses, and coffee shops. By his late teens, he had his own record company, named The First Time Records - named after a lyric from
The Smiths - "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want", an influential band in his teen years.By 2003, Palrecha had expanded his record company to include a second record label, a boutique music promotion firm, and a regular monthly club night in San Francisco, where he was also a regular DJ.

Palrecha runs
The First Time Records , a small indie label that works primarily with British and British influenedindie rock . The label has worked with such artists as Ride, Brett Anderson of Suede, Kent, and many others.References
