Carey Frederick Knyvett

Carey Frederick Knyvett (1885-1967)was the 2nd Bishop of Selby. Educated at Rugby and Trinity College, Oxford [“Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X] he was ordained in 1914. His first post was as Curate at Petworth. Subsequently Chaplain to the Bishop of Sheffield (until war broke out [He was mentioned in dispatches The Times, Monday, Jan 29, 1917; pg. 9; Issue 41388; col B] ), Vicar of Benwell and Archdeacon of Northampton [The Times, Tuesday, Jun 23, 1936; pg. 13; Issue 47408; col B "New Archdeacon Of Northampton"] he ascended to the Episcopate in 1941, a post he was to hold until retirement 21 years later [The Times, Wednesday, Mar 14, 1962; pg. 14; Issue 55339; col E "Ecclesiastical News Resignation of the Bishop Suffragan Of Selby"] ..
