Astakhov Glacier

Astakhov Glacier (coord|70|45|S|163|21|E|type:glacier_region:AQ|display=inline,title) is the glacier next south of Chugunov Glacier in the Explorers Range, Bowers Mountains. It flows northeast from Mount Hager and enters Ob' Bay just west of Platypus Ridge. Mapped by United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1960-65. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Petr Astakhov, Soviet exchange scientist at the U.S. South Pole Station in 1967.
