David Stewart Cross

David Stewart Cross (1928-1989) was the 2nd Bishop of Doncaster who was later translated to Blackburn. Born in 1928 and educated at Trinity College, Dublin [“Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X] he was ordained in 1955. His first post was as Curate at Hexham. A noted broadcaster, he was Precentor at St Albans Cathedral [ Crockfords,(London, Church House 1975) ISBN 0715180886 ] before his elevation to the Episcopate [ The Times, Wednesday, Dec 17, 1975; pg. 15; Issue 59580; col D New Bishop of Doncaster announced] ”
