Ernesto Mayz Vallenilla (September 3,
1925 ) is a Venezuelan philosopher. He was born in Maracaibo and graduated from high school in Liceo Andrés Bello, Caracas. He graduated in philosophy and literature fromUniversidad Central de Venezuela in 1950, where he also obtained his PhD in Philosophy.He studied in the universities of Göttingen, Freiburg and München. Ernesto Mayz Vallenilla was also a teacher in Universidad Central de Venezuela and the rector-founder of

In 2001 the Argentinian Philosophical Society considered Mayz Vallenilla the most outstanding Latin American philosopher of the twentieth century.
