History

The school used to be known as Elfed Secondary Modern School.

Academic performance

Elfed ranks eighth in top performing secondary schools in Flintshire, with 48% of pupils getting 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C in 2007. Elfed is also well known for its debating teams who have won numerous championships in recent years. [See Flintshire#Schools.]
