Mount Imhotep

Mount Imhotep is a mountain rising near the head of Hippocrates Glacier in the south part of Brabant Island, in the Palmer Archipelago. First mapped by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition under Gerlache, 1897-99. Photographed by Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. In 1956-57, and mapped from these photos in 1959. Named by the United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) for Imhotep (c. 2890 B.C.), who lived in Egypt and was the first physician to emerge as an individual.
