Organization

The current chief of police is Darryl D. Perry. The KPD currently employs approximately 150 sworn personnel and about 50 non-sworn civilian support staff. The KPD is divided into three bureaus [cite web

Political Controversy

The Kauai Police department has faced numerous allegations of corruption, cover-ups and favoritism. The former police chief, K.C. Lum, who was promoted from the vice division, has been accused of favoritism, lax management and his selection as chief has been tainted by ethics allegations.
