- Invercargill ILT Velodrome
The Invercargill ILT Velodrome is the biggest and most expensive velodrome in New ZealandFact|date=March 2008. The velodrome which cost $94 Million dollars is an indoor complex next to Stadium Southland, built on the side.
Stadium Southland , which is also one of New Zealand's best indoor sports facilities, houses 13 indoor courts, 4 tennis courts, 4 squash courts, 11 business offices and a main Basketball, Netball and Volleyball court (5,500 capacity).ILT
ILT (Invercargill Licensing Trust) an Invercargill-based trust running hospitality businesses. It provides donations and sponsorships to many organisations in the Invercargill area.
It has spent NZD$180 million on the "Invercargill Velodrome" and "
Stadium Southland ". It has sponsored the successful "Southern Sting" and currently the new "Southern Steel". It is also a sponsor of the "Southern Highlanders" and "Southland Stags". It helped finance the "Splash Palace" (Invercargill's Olympic size swimming centre). It also part-financedRugby Park Stadium , Invercargill's major soccer and rugby venue.Olympic Games Training
The ILT velodrome is the current home of the
2008 New Zealand Beijing Olympic cycling team . The cycling team who are currently living in Invercargill and training at the ILT velodrome includes: Hayden Roulsten, Alison Shanks, Sarah Ulmer.
