Aseem Pereira

Aseem Pereira was born in Brazil on the 24th August 1960. Migrated to Australia in 1990 where he studied Visual Arts at the Sydney College of the Arts.Best known as a glass artist in his early years, his work was published twice in New Glass Review by the US's prestigious Corning Museum of Glass, as well as, the recipient of The Jaguar Designers of the Year in the Glass category. Pereira has been working weaving all sorts of recycled materials and his practice has branched into many different areas of exploration over the years. His works have appeared in exhibitions from Wagga Wagga to Chicago and hangs in private and corporate collections around the world. His participation in juried exhibitions of great significance in the Visual Arts domain in Australia, namely ‘Sculpture by the Sea’ in 2001, the ‘City of Hobart Art Prize’ in 2007,the 'Wynne Prize' 2007 and the Helen Lempriere National Sculpture Award 2008, has endorsed his credentials with an added impetus to explore new fields of inquiry and exposure.
