Fred Schorning is a minor provincial level politician from Alberta, Canada.

Political career

Schorning was leader of the Alberta Party until 2001.cite web|url=http://www.electionsalberta.ab.ca/annualrpt24th.html | title=The Twenty-Fourth Annual Report of the Chief Electoral Office of Alberta|publisher=Elections Alberta|accessdate=2008-03-17] He lead his party to form a temporary coalition with James Albers and the Social Credit party in the 2001 Alberta general election. The coalition proposed that the party share volunteers and resources and run all candidates under the Social Credit banner.cite web|url=http://www.cbc.ca/news/story/2000/02/07/abmerge000207.html | title=Political parties to merge|date=February 7, 2000|publisher=CBC News|accessdate=2008-03-17] The election was a failure and Schorning stepped down and was replaced by George Flake as leader of the party. Schorning has continued on in the Alberta party executive holding the secretary position for a number of years and most recently becoming the Chief Financial Officer.
