Prince Manuel of Bavaria (German: "Manuel Maria Alexander Leopold Jörg Prinz von Bayern") (b. December 27, 1972) is a member of the Bavarian Royal House of Wittelsbach.

Early life

Prince Manuel was born in Starnberg, Bavaria. He is the oldest child of Prince Leopold of Bavaria and his wife Ursula Möhlenkamp. Manuel was born out of wedlock, nearly five years before his parent's were married. Even after his parents nuptials in 1977, Manuel and his siblings were excluded from the line in the Bavarian Succession as his parent's union was considered morganatic. However, this changed on March 3, 1999 when Franz, Duke of Bavaria recognized the marriage as dynastic in accordance with the Bavarian house laws.
Prince Manuel was awarded degree in biology from Columbia University.

Marriage

On August 6, 2005 Prince Manuel married Princess Anna of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, the daughter of Prince Ludwig-Ferdinand of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and Countess Yvonne. They were married in a small village near Nyköping in Sweden. It was attended by more than 300 guests including King Carl Gustaf of Sweden and his family [European Royal History Journal 2005: volume 8.4, page 19] . The couple has a son together:
