Regional planning in England

Regional planning in England

Regional planning in England is undertaken for each of the nine Government Office regions.Glasson, J. & Marshall, T., "Regional Planning", (2007)] The regional assemblies are responsible for physical planning policy through regional spacial strategies and since 1999 regional development agencies have co-ordinated initiatives to improve economic development. In London, where there has been some devolution of power, the Mayor of London is responsible for planning strategy and the London Development Agency. It is proposed that the responsibilities of the regional assemblies will pass to the regional development agencies and to Communities and Local Government in 2010.
