Ghatore or Ghatto Ore trace their lineage back to Bhai Lalo - one of the most revered disciples of the Adi Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Nanak Dev. He was personally blessed by the Guru when he visited his modest abode and partook of the frugal meal he had prepared for the Guru with great love and affection. This the Guru had done to teach Malik Bhago - a rich but exploitative landlord - a moral lesson. The Guru is said to have equated Malik Bhago's rich food with exploitation of the poor and the simple food of Bhai Lalo with the all encompassing love of the devout for the entire humankind.

The most eminent names of the Ghatore clan are those of the highly feted poet and scholar, Dr Harbhajan Singh, the singer, composer, lyricist and film scholar, Dr Madan Gopal Singh, the Deputy General Manager of the Bank of Baroda, Priyadarshan Singh and also Sensei Gurmit Singh 6th Dan, president of the United Kingdom Karate-Do Goju Kai (UKKGK) and vice president of the J.K.F.
