- Pell Airfield
"Pell Airfield" was an airfield southeast of
Batchelor Airfield , built near theStuart Highway inNorthern Territory ,Australia duringWorld War II .The airfield was constructed in
1942 as a aircraft salvage, repair and servicing facility. The airfield was named in honour ofMajor Floyd J Pell , who was killed during the first Japanese attack on Darwin on19 February 1942.The airfield was abandoned shortly after 1945.
