Australia n academic, journalist, writer and former diplomat.Born as Alison Woodroffe on 25 October 1941 in
Adelaide ,South Australia , from 1946 to 1958 she attended theWilderness School in her native Adelaide.She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from
Adelaide University in 1962.She married Richard Philip Broinowski on 14 December 1963.
From 1963-64 she was a diplomatic cadet for the
Australia n Department of External Affairs before beginning her extensive diplomatic career with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT).Career
