"Higher Ground" is an album by Barbra Streisand. It was released in North American on November 11th 1997 and Europe on November 10th 1997. It is her 8th number 1 album in the US and gave her the title of "only female Artists to have a number one album in 4 different decades". The album was very successful and sold 6 millions copies worldwide.

Chart/Sales Performance

The Album reached Number 1 in America with sales of 207,000 copies in its first week. The following week the album fell to Number 3 but has an increase of sales and sold 267,000. The following week it fell to number 4 with steady sales but it wasn't until week number 7 where is got its biggest sales week with 402,000 copies kept of the top spot from Celine Dion's Let's Talk About Love. The album has since sold 3 million copies in the US being certified 3xPlatinum by the RIAA. The album was successful in other parts of the world and sold over 6 million copies worldwide. The album was ceritified 3xPlatinum in Canada, Gold in the UK and Platinum in Australia.

Singles

Tell Him a duet with Celine Dion was released worldwide and was top 10 in 12 countries. The song peaked at #1 in the Netherlands, #2 in Ireland, #3 in Belgium, Europe, France and the United Kingdom, #4 in Italy and Switzerland, and was a top ten hit in many other countries. The single has sold very well around the world, receiving platinum awards in the Netherlands (75,000), Belgium (50,000), and gold in the United Kingdom (400,000), France (400,000), Australia (35,000), Switzerland (25,000) and Norway (10,000). The single sold 2 million copies worldwide.

Awards

"Tell Him" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals in 1998.

I believe was nominated for a Grammy Award for Instrumental Arrangement in 1999.
