- Bálint Tóth
Bálint Tόth (born 1955) is a Hungarian mathematician whose work concerns
probability theory . He has worked in various fields of probability theory and mathematical physics, for example in microscopic models ofBrownian motion ,quantum spin systems, limit theorems forrandom walk s with long memoryand non-conventionalstochastic process es, hydrodynamic limits, etc. In particular, Tόth contributed significantly to the theory of self-interacting motions, that is, motions that are "reinforced", "self-avoiding" or "self-repellent". In 1994 he received the Mathematical Prize awarded by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (since 1997 the prize is called `Paul Erdõs Prize' after the latePaul Erdős ).Since 2005 Bálint Tόth is the director of the Mathematical Institute of the
Technical University of Budapest .Tόth is a close collaborator of
Wendelin Werner .References
