The Zorros were an
Australia n rock band, formed in1979 . They were popular in the Melbourne music scene of the early 1980s, playing at venues such as the Crystal Ballroom , Exford Hotel Russel St City, Sydenham Hotel Richmond, Pier Hotel Frankston, Sorrento Hotel, Piccadilly Hotel Kings Cross, Le Tote Fitzroy, Derby Hotel Nth Fitzroy, Katunga RSL Numurkah, Macy's South Yarra, Prince of Wales St Kilda, Duke of Edinbugh St Kilda, Roxy Sth Melb, 465 Club Spencer St, Tiger Lounge St Kilda, Bombay Rock Brunswick, The Champion Hotel Fitzroy, Barleycorn Hotel Collingwood, The Club Collingwood, Hearts Carlton, The Stockade Carlton, The Central Club Richmond, Bananas St Kilda, the Market Hotel prahran, Geelong Hotel Geelong, The Rehearsal Redfern, The Esplande St Kilda [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esplanade_Hotel] , Floyds Canberra, ANU Canberra, The Stockade Canberra, Port Melbourne Park, Princess Hill High, Hunt Club Hotel Merrijig.
They released one 7" single onAu Go Go Records , "Too Young", which was a catchy slice of rebel punk-power pop. The Song went to number 3 on the Melbourne 3RRR charts. And in 1988 a Zorros Album was released on Dreamtime Software. The Zorros played original independent music for 16 years with over 500 performances and over 500 songs written by Darren Smith and Nic Chancellor.
Evolving from Melbourne's Post Punk Little band Scene [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_indie_rock] , The Zorros played with other bands such as INXS [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inxs] , Rose Tattoo [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rose_Tattoo] , 21 Faces, Z Cars, Marching Girls and La Femme.
In 2007-2008 Nic created "ZORROS 27 LIGHT YEARS" a music DVD compilation of 16 remastered and remixed songs from the Zorros. The DVD Visuals have been created by lead singer and songwriter Nic. Previews song film clips such as "Too Young", "Memphis", "Black Widow Spider" "Friday On My Mind" and more are available at the touchesclouds you tube site. Nic's Animations have been broadcast to over 300,000 people on SBS TV Documentary "Shaman of the Amazon" [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayahuasca] and his You Tube Animations have had over 250,000 views. Alex the bass player lives in Campbells Creek Victoria, Greg the Drummer lives in Melbourne, Gary the drummer whereabouts unknown, Darren the Guitarist lives in Highett, Nic the Singer lives in Lismore [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lismore%2C_New_South_Wales] , Daniel the Drummer lives in Caulfield Victoria. Darren works in an ice cream factory, Daniel in Aussie Post. The two Smith's are not brothers. Scott the bass player had gender re-assignment recently, Craig the bass player lives in a caravan at his mums in Moorabbin. All Zorros are happy to still be alive!External links
