os_grid_reference= NY037312Camerton is a small village dating back at least to Medieval times situated about a mile North East of Seaton in West
Cumbria . The village is linked by road to Seaton,Great Broughton andFlimby , and there is also a small footbridge over the river toGreat Clifton .Up until the earlier 1950s Camerton had its own Train Station, the station masters house is still there but it is now a private residence. The old bridge supports and the railway line embankment can still be seen today. There is some lovely walking opportunities in the area including the nearby Scar Bank wood.
St Peters church
St Peters church is located South East of the village on a
meander of theRiver Derwent . The church building dates from the mid-1800s.The church contains the tomb of 'Black Tom', an old 'lord' of Camerton. According to local legend, Black Tom's ghost haunts the churchyard. Black Tom is also the name of the village pub.Another local legend tells of the spirit of a woman named Elsie Tinkler that is said to haunt the nearby village of Great Clifton.External links
