Deslye Kruck

Deslye Margaret Kruck (born Brisbane, Queensland, Australia 9 January 1931; died Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia 23 November 2003) was an Australian lecturer in drama and speech at Queensland University of Technology. She was also an accomplished actor, director and costume designer, notably for Maggi Sietsma's Expressions Dance Company, Brisbane. One of her favourite stage roles was as "Fraulein Schneider" in John Van Druten's stage play, "I Am A Camera", later made into the film, "Cabaret". Kruck acted extensively with Brisbane Arts Theatre. She was also heavily involved with the The Speech and Drama Teachers' Association of Queensland Inc. serving on more than one occasion as President and also as a member of the management committee. She also was involved with the Australian Society For Education Through Art. Kruck was regarded as an expert on the correction of speech defects having been commissioned to write a book on correcting problems associated with the pronunciation of "s" and "th" in English. After retiring from lecturing, she continued to teach speech and drama privately as well as design. She was also heavily involved with Gold Coast Little Theatre.
