Sasa ( _he. סאסא) is a kibbutz in the Upper Galilee area of northern Israel. Located one mile from the border with Lebanon, it falls under the jurisdiction of Upper Galilee Regional Council.

History

The kibbutz was founded in January 1949 by a group of North American members of Hashomer Hatzair called the "Aliyah H gar'in". It was built on the site of the depopulated Arab village ofSa'sa' that had previously served as headquarters of the Arab Liberation Army, but was occupied by Israeli forces following the Battle of Sasa. Economy

As well as agriculture, the kibbutz also has factories manufacturing bulletproof vests and vehicle armour from Kevlar("Plasan"), kitchen soaps and powders, cleaning fluids and anti-rust sprays.

It also has some tourism and is home to the ancient gravesite of 2nd century Rabbi Levi ben Sisi. [ [http://www.breslev-midot.com/eng/photo_album05.asp Pictures of Tzaddikim's graves in Eretz Yisrael] Yeshivat Tikun HaMidot]
