She has been awarded the Greek State Prize twice (1971, 1988), as well as the Kostas and Eleni Ouranis Prize (1994) and the "Αριστείο Γραμμάτων" of the Academy of Athens (2001) [ [http://www.dedalus.gr/gr/author.asp?id=82 ΤΡΑΙΝΟ (Συγγραφείς - Μέλη) ] ] . She is to be awarded the European Literature Prize for 2010 [ [http://www.greekinsight.com/show_art.asp?id=4989 Kiki Dimoula to Receive European Literature Prize] ] . Work

Her work is haunted by the existential dissolution of the post-world era. Her themes are homelessness, insecurity, absence and oblivion. She uses her unconventional use of twisting grammar, accentuates the power of the words through astonishment and surprise and always manages to retain a sense of hope even when she refers to the Marlboro boy or mobile phones [ [http://www.greekembassy.org/Embassy/Content/en/Article.aspx?office=1&folder=25&article=20709 European Poetry in Motion] ] [ [http://www.ambathen.um.dk/en/menu/Culture/PreviousEvents/REFLECTIONS+AMeetingOfDanishAndGreekPoets.htm REFLECTIONS - A MEETING OF DANISH AND GREEK POETS] ] .
