William the Conqueror up toQueen Victoria , devised and directed byJohn Barton and broadcast in 1961. A videotape of this broadcast can be seen atThe Paley Center for Media inNew York City .The work has also been produced for the stage several times. According to
Ian Richardson "every member of the [Royal Shakespeare Company - present, past , or passed-on - has participated in it at one time or another".Its most recent production was in
Toronto , in January 2004, at thePrincess of Wales Theatre , starringVanessa Redgrave ,Donald Sinden ,Ian Richardson andAlan Howard .
