Shirley Bassey discography

Shirley Bassey discography

This is the discography of Dame Shirley Bassey.

Bassey has sold approximately 135 million records worldwide as of January 2008, her single "Goldfinger" selling over one million copies in the US alone.fact|date=May 2008 "Goldfinger" was also the #1 soundtrack of 1964 in the UK and the US. Shirley's biggest-selling solo albums are the "Shirley Bassey Singles Album", peaking in 1975 at #2, and the limited edition double-vinyl gatefold LP "Shirley Bassey 25th Anniversary Album", a platinum record charting at #3 in 1978 (UK Chart placements). Her top ten album "Something" is her biggest-selling record, remaining in the UK album charts for six months. Many of Shirley's albums have been re-released to chart on separate occasions. For example, "Let's Face the Music" reached number 12 in 1962 and number 17 nine years later under the title "What Now My Love". Other albums that did not chart on initial release went on to chart on re-release, such as "Big Spender", a Top 30 hit album in 1971, which was initially released four years earlier as "And We Were Lovers". Bassey has four number-one singles to her credit, including the number-one dance chart hit "History Repeating" (1997). A decade later, "Get the Party Started" went to the Top 3 in the U.S. Dance Chart, being a Top 3 download in the UK. In the late 90s Shirley also released a top ten music video, "Divas are Forever", having previously earned a gold video for sales of 1985's "Live in Cardiff". The definitive Greatest Hits CD "This is My Life" did less well on initial release, though its sales have now earned Bassey another gold disc, reaching Number One on the HMV Specialist Sales Chart. With thirty-two hits in the UK Singles Chart, plus thirty-five hit LPs in the corresponding UK Albums Chart, she has maintained her position as Britain's most successful female chart artist of all time ("Guinness Book of Records") and the artist with the longest span (50 years) of Top 40 hits ("Guinness Book of Records").
