Alicia Candiani [www.aliciacandiani.com.ar] is an international Argentine artist and
independent scholar based inBuenos Aires, Argentina . Candiani’s work explores female identity and issues of gender, while investigating and commenting upon the political and social issues in Latin America.She studied at
National University of Cordoba , Argentina (M.F.A. 1976, Architect 1978):University of Buenos Aires , Argentina (Art Criticism 1989-91) andIowa State University , United States (Digital Imaging Techniques, 1991-92). She has exhibited extensively in over 300 shows and one-person exhibitions since 1977. Her works are the recipient of major international awards and have been selected for inclusion in many prestigious international exhibitions in Norway, Sweden, Russia, Germany, Poland, Finland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Hungry, France, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, United Kingdom, Belgium, Egypt, Korea, Japan, Macao, Taiwan, China, Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Peru, Dominican Republic, Canada, the United State as well as in Argentina.She has been selected by the Argentine National Academy of Fine Arts as one in ten best graphic artist in her country in 1998, 2000 and 2004. she lectures widely and her articles have been published nationally and internationally. She is the founder and current director of “Proyecto A-Ce” [www.proyectoace.com.a] an international art center focused on printmaking and new media which she is setting up in her home city.
