Maciej Zaremba Bielawski (born
12 March 1951 ) is a Swedishjournalist andauthor .Zaremba was born in
Poznań ,Poland . He came to Sweden in1969 where he worked as aconstruction worker during the 1970s. In his youth he was active in theLeague Communist ( _sv. Förbundet Kommunist), but abandoned his communist views when the group was dissolved in1982 . He earned a B.A. in thehistory of ideas fromStockholm University in1988 . He started writing for the newspaper "Dagens Nyheter " in1989 and in1994 he was recruited to the editorial team of the now defunct magazine "Moderna Tider".In
1997 , Zaremba becamem famous after he wrote a series of articles in "Dagens Nyheter" about thecompulsory sterilization program active in Sweden from the mid 1930s until the mid 1970s. The article sparked much debate in Sweden and led to a government inquiry into the matter.In
2005 he wrote a series of articles about alabor dispute involving foreign construction workers inVaxholm . For these articles he was awarded withStora Journalistpriset ("Great Journalist Award") andHasse Olssons pris till årets ekonomijournalist ("Hasse Olsson's Award for Business Journalist of the Year") in2006 . In2005 he also receivedGösta Bohman-stipendiet ("Gösta Bohman Award) and a prize from theSwedish Academy through its own funds.Zaremba is married since
