Chicago Barnes missed out on a bronze medal after he was defeated by China'sShiming Zou in the quarter finals, Zou went on to win thegold medal . Barnes won Ireland's first medal of the 2008 games by winning his quarter final bout in the Light Flyweight Division. Barnes won a bronze medal after he was again defeated by Shiming Zou, this time in the semi-final, in a match where replays showed some of Barnes landed punches counted as poiints for Zou
