Rakehoe

Rakehoe

A rakehoe is a tool used by wildland firefighters that is half rake and half hoe.

The two tools are combined on the same end, so that they are on the same sheet of metal. The rake is very coarse, so can only be used for raking coarse material. The hoe is a flat blade, that can be used to scrape and dig.

Rakehoes are used by firefighters to clear fuel breaks, and mop up a fire. They are very useful for turning over burning material, to help in its extinguishment.
