Red5 (Retail)

Red5 is an electronic toy and gadget retailer founded in the UK during 2006 offering products such as the "PicooZ" helicopter range and the "NDS Powerball Gyroscope", as well as exclusive products such as the "Tagz LED Scrolling Messenger" and the "Money Monster piggy bank".

Founding

Red5 was founded by Jonathan Elvidge [Information obtained from [http://www.red5.co.uk/ Red5 Online] ] shortly after his previous business The Gadget Shop went into administration in 2005 [See The Gadget Shop] . The business was founded in Hull at the same location as the first Gadget Shop store. The name 'Red5' was given to the business because it is also the call-sign of the X-Wing fighter that Luke Skywalker pilots in the popular movie .

Products

Many of Red5's ideas were carried over from The Gadget Shop, but the most noticeable was the types of products that Red5 sell. For example products such as the Solar Airship were sold at both The Gadget Shop and Red5, as well as a wide range of USB Gadgets. However, unlike The Gadget Shop, Red5 retails an extensive range of different Star Wars toys, gadgets and collectibles.

Elvidge also owns a business called Blue Sky Designs which manufactures many of the products that are sold at Red5's stores.

Stores

Red5 currently has 6 stores. - Bluewater Shopping Centre in Dartford - Westfield Centre in Derby - Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow - Princes Quay in Hull - Headrow Centre in Leeds - Meadowhall in Sheffield

Red5 also has concessions at three of the four Selfridges stores across the UK. London Oxford Street and The Trafford Centre

Red5 Online

Like The Gadget Shop, Red5 retails all of its products online at its website [http://www.red5.co.uk Red5 Online] . The website is also used to promote future products, advertise job vacancies, and recruit affiliates.
