Bitstream Speedo Fonts

Bitstream Speedo, or Speedo, are an obsolete scalable font format created by Bitstream Inc. [http://www.pcmag.com/encyclopedia_term/0,2542,t=Speedo&i=51849,00.asp PCmag Speedo Definition] ] Speedo was used in very early versions of WordPerfect and Microsoft Windows. [http://www.bitstream.com/fonts/support/speedo_fonts.html Bitstream's Speedo support page] ] Speedo was replaced by more popular font types like Type 1 fonts, Though Speedo is obsolete it is still supported by the X Window System through the speedo module, and most Linux distributions have a Speedo font package. [http://www.xfree86.org/current/fonts3.html Fonts included with XFree86 ] ] Speedo fonts have the file extension ".spd".
