Sylvester Bonnaffon, Jr. (September 14, 1844–May 12, 1922) was a recipient of the Medal of Honor for his US Army service in the American Civil War.

He entered army service at Philadelphia, December 14, 1861. He was promoted to corporal on April 1, 1862; to Sergeant on September 24, 1864; to Second Lieutenant on August 1, 1862; to First Lieutenant on September 24, 1864; to Captain on April 20, 1865; to Brevet Major and Lieutenant Colonel on March 13, 1865. Medal of Honor citation

He received his Medal of Honor for his actions against Confederate forces at Boydton Plank Road, Virginia on October 27, 1864, where he was wounded. Rank and organization: First Lieutenant, Company G, 99th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment. His Medal was issued on September 29, 1893.

Citation:

:Checked the rout and rallied the troops of his command in the face of a terrible fire of musketry; was severely wounded.
