Origin
Most of Abyss' origins are unrevealed. His history with his unknown father Argon is the only real evidence of his past. After destroying every speck of matter in one dimension, he moved on to destroy everything in the
Earth-616 reality. While traveling across the stars, he came across the Death Mental, who had earlier consumed the consienceness of his father, holding it inside himself. He created theSpace Slug , hoping to use it to tear out the remains of Argon. After failing, he returned to the Realm of Nothingness.Death
While trying to save his people one day, Death Mental was defusing a bomb when he decided to throw it into a dimensional portal he had created. The portal led to the Realm of Nothingness, where it exploded in a vast reality altering scene, and Abyss was temporarily killed. However, after reconstructing himself from raw power, he soon came into conflict with a greater enemy, Nova. ["Nova" #8-9, 2008]
Powers and abilities
Abyss possesses vast destructive abilities, enabling him to consume virtually limitless amounts of matter, energy, and power. This includes realities, stars, planets, space vacuum, and living organisms. Once he has consumed a life form (preferrebly an intelligent life form) he brings it to life again as a ghost, only to have it be his servant. It is said that he can do this to all of the consumed matter he has digested, but it is done to creatures such as humans due to their intelligent mind.
