Dominic King

Dominic King (born Dover, Kent in 1974) is a Sony Gold Radio Academy award winning radio broadcaster.

Biography

King started his career as a journalist with the Early Times Newspaper for Young People, before working with the BBC as a youth reporter for the BBC Nature series, presented by Michael Buerk. For several years he worked for commercial radio stations in the South East of England including KFM in Tonbridge, Mercury FM in Crawley, Fame 1521, TLR, and Medway FM. In 2000, he went to work for Sky News Radio, before going freelance. After a six month spell at Kent Police in Folkestone as a Press Officer, he joined the new BBC South East news division in Tunbridge Wells in Kent in 2001.

Initially as a news reader at BBC Radio Kent he became the regular drive presenter with his Big Drive Home show. In January 2008, he took over the mid morning slot, now known as 'Dominic King in the Morning' between 10am and 1pm. In July 2009, he went back to the 4-7pm Drivetime programme. On December 6th 2010 he became the presenter of Drivetime across the South East broadcasting on BBC Radio Kent, BBC Sussex and BBC Surrey.

He is married and lives on the Romney Marsh.

He won two Gold BBC Frank Gillard awards for local radio, and received a Gold Sony Radio Academy award for his coverage of the 60th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy.[1][2]
