USS LCI(L)-449

USS "LCI(L)-449" was an sclass|LCI(L)-351|landing craft infantry built for the United States Navy during World War II. Like most ships of her class, she was not named and was known only by her designation.

In 1944, the ship was renamed and re-classed as "LCI(G)-449", a landing craft infantry gunboat. The ship's commanding officer, Rufus G. Herring, was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Battle of Iwo Jima on 17 February 1945.
