- Gibshill
Gibshill (also spelt sometimes as Gibbshill) is the eastern-most
housing estate inGreenock and adjoinsPort Glasgow , both in theInverclyde Council Area,Scotland . It is served byBogston railway station .Until recently, comprised mostly of
tenement s the area may well not have had the best of reputations among others in Inverclyde but the people were, as the saying goes, the salt of the Earth. A thriving community has in recent years undergone mass 'clearances' and demolition (including no shops in Gibshill since the previous shopping district's demolition). Large expanses of grass exist where housing once stood. New housing both council owned and private sector 'bought' housing is planned to regenerate the area with some already built in Cobham St, Bell St (both private) and Shankland Grove(council) already built.Gibshill is currently undergoing redevelopment. New houses are being constructed on Lansbury street along with 80 to 100 private houses being constructed on the eastern side of Gibshill. Wildlife is now common in the area with many rabbits and deer coming from the nearby moors. From Gibshill the houses all face north toward the highlands.
