- Boglestone
Boglestone (named after the Bogal Stone) is located around the top of the Clune Brae,
Port Glasgow ,Inverclyde ,Scotland . The area includes housing, but also serves as an important 'hub' for upper Port Glasgow, offering amenities such as education, shopping, health centres, and leisure. The two
school s previously situated here were Boglestone Primary a non-denominational school, andSt Michael 's aRoman Catholic School. Due to the local council's education plans, Boglestone Primary has been demolished, with pupils transferred to other schools, including Highholm Primary, located near Port Glasgowtown centre .Shops include a Co-op
supermarket ,newsagent s, andbaker s, as well asLadbrokes and Haddows. Ahealth centre , and acommunity centre that includes agym , are also situated here. There is a nice cafe, called The Kafay, which does very good business due to the quality of its food and service. Boglestone shops provide a nice wee shopping centre for Boglestone, the only area of upper Port Glasgow to have close access to such a wide variety of retailers. Thelibrary was recently closed in an unpopular swathe of cuts and without effective consultation with the public by the Liberal Democrat controlled Inverclyde Council. Recent elections reduced the Lib Dems to a powerless irrelevance on the council, perhaps reflecting the strength of feeling in the voting public regarding this closure and many others. A new primary school, Newark Primary, is currently being built on the site of the former Boglestone Primary.External links
