The Local

The Local

The Local is an English-language online newspaper published in Sweden and Germany. The German and Swedish sites, while alike in appearance, have separate editorial teams, each focused on its respective market [Source: http://www.thelocal.se/10188/] .

Coverage is purely domestic in each country, and includes current events, politics, economy, sports and culture, as well as analysis and opinion. There are also guides to Swedish and German society aimed at English-speaking foreigners, a who's who of local celebrities and a discussion forum

The original Swedish edition began in 2004. The German edition was launched in 2008.
