The 6'1, 175lbs. Annacone played three years of college tennis at the
University of Tennessee , 1982–84, in theSoutheastern Conference . He was named theIntercollegiate Tennis Association player of the year in 1984, going 51–3 in singles while winning the ITA indoor singles championship that year. Annacone has made more of a name for himself to the casual tennis fan as having been tennis champion
Pete Sampras 's long-time coach. The two worked together full-time from 1995 to 2001 and again on a part-time basis in July 2002. From December 2001 to January 2003 Annacone was also Managing Director of theUnited States Tennis Association High Performance Program.
