- Tony Ocasio
Tony Ocasio (real name Héctor Antonio Ocasio Cedeño, born c. 1967) is a Puerto Rican who was a famous
singer . He was a member ofboy band Los Chicos .Ocasio came to fame during the early 1980s, when Carlos Alfonso, the spouse Grace Fontecha (Famous icon of the fashion and modeling industry) as the image creator, created the band, to rival
Edgardo Diaz 's Menudo. Tony, as he was better known by his fans, was considered by some fans to be the group's leader. He had, however, Chayanne, , as a bandmate, which, it can be said, madeschool girl s inPuerto Rico have daily, friendly debates about which one of the two was the best looking member of themusic band.During 1983, year in which Menudo released the
Una Aventura Llamada Menudo movie, Los Chicos were coincidentally also enjoying one of their most productive years, and Tony Ocasio along with the rest of the band became well known across Central andSouth America as well as the Caribbean. In Puerto Rico particularly, his face was seen commonly in such items as school notebooks, pencils, posters and other things; as well as in the corresponding show business magazines, such asVea ,Teve Guía , Artistas,Estrellita s and others. He also participated in the film,Coneccion Caribe (alongside the rest of the band andOtilio Warrington )among other Puerto Rican stars, and in aWAPA-TV television show where Los Chicos sang on Sundays. The show'sMC wasYolandita Monge .Despite Los Chicos' success in
Latin America , the band soon separated, andChayanne , then became an international and famous singer throughout the world, as of today. Although the group's members were still clearly remembered by their fans during early 1984 (period during which the band was still, officially, together), the group did not manage to record newalbum s. On August of that year, after many months of rumors both by the Puerto Rican media and by the public, Carlos Alfonso held apress conference with Tony, Chayanne, and the rest of the band by his side. They all got a chance to speak and express their feelings before the official announcement of the band's breakup was made.Los Chicos fans and Puerto Ricans in general as well felt that either Tony or Chayanne were the most likely ones to succeed in
show-biz as solo singers. It was the latter, however, that went on to become an international singer, as Tony eventually faded out and retired from music.Currently, there are a number of Los Chicos-dedicated
website s on theInternet , many of which have webmasters that remember Tony with fondness.ee also
